Two Interesting Stories

You can always count on Yahoo! to keep churning out interesting stories. First in entertainment…

I seriously laughed out loud when I read Robert Downey Jr.’s comments about summer blockbuster rival “The Dark Knight.” As the article points out, there has always been a rivalry between Marvel and DC, as well as between preference between its heroes. Perhaps we simply have Iron Man playing the part of Marvel representative. Maybe he’s being dead serious with his opinion of the newest portrayal of the Batman story. Here is the quote in question:

“My whole thing is that I saw ‘The Dark Knight’. I feel like I’m dumb because I feel like I don’t get how many things that are so smart. It’s like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I’m like, ‘That’s not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.’ I loved ‘The Prestige’ but didn’t understand ‘The Dark Knight’. Didn’t get it, still can’t tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I’m like, ‘I get it. This is so high brow and so [expletive] smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.’ You know what? [Expletive] DC comics. That’s all I have to say and that’s where I’m really coming from.”

Hahaha. Everytime I read it I laugh. You just KNOW Downey Jr said that, and you can actually picture him in his Iron Man suit saying something like this. Here’s the link to the Yahoo! page: Downey on “The Dark Knight”. The whole interview is great, as Downey Jr. has one of Hollywood’s most likable personalities.

And now, a sports story. I’m sure many of you heapsters. may have had an experience where you know you just can’t win. Whether it be the latest unlocked song on Guitar Hero that you just can’t get by in expert, or just getting continuously schooled in arcade basketball, even in life when we face insurmountable odds- all of us have felt that who or whatever our nemesis is, we can’t beat them. Now imagine being nine years old, just looking forward to another carefree Saturday morning of Little League baseball… except, you don’t have a chance of hitting the ball, let alone seeing it. No, the coaches didn’t forget the bucket full of balls. It’s just that you are facing Jericho Scott, a 9 year-old phenom who can throw the ball 40 mph! Of course, it’s never the kids’ fault for why a story gets blown out of proportion. Leave it to the adults. Read the article here: 9 Year Old Pitcher Told He’s Too Good to Play.

For the record, when I was 9 or 10, we had to face Tyler Ayers, who threw a hot 40-50 mph. We were just told by Coach Morrow to try our best. And what do you know, some of us STILL were able to get hits. During practice, he would just set up the machine to pitch that fast! But I guess I’ve forgotten that everyone wants it easy these days… what’s wrong with losing and striking out a few times? Practice, and get BETTER!

Rock Band Release Tuesday

rblogo

It’s Tuesday again! And that means, more Rock Band songs to possibly download! After last week’s throwback effort, Harmonix keeps the 80’s (and perhaps 70’s too!) in mind with the release of legendary Canadian rock band Rush’s album, Moving Pictures. This week, you’ll be able to download Guitar Hero 2 staple YYZ as well as an additional version (apparently the original) of Tom Sawyer. Also on the album are Red Barchetta, Limelight, The Camera Eye, Witch Hunt, and Vital Signs. No tier information has be released on the songs… so I can’t tell you about how easy/hard they will be, though from GH2, we can remember that YYZ was on tier 7 as the encore.

I actually haven’t been able to find note charts for the new songs anywhere! Though in my research, I was able to find this awesome clip of Rush playing Rock Band! They do not seem too amused… hehe… especially the drummer. As soon as I find some note charts, I’ll make a follow up post with them! Now to buy Slipknot’s new CD, and to the post office!
